Welcome to the third episode of ASME TechCast, a new podcast brought to you by the editors of ASME.org, AABME.org, and Mechanical Engineering magazine that introduces you to the innovators, innovations, and issues that push the envelope of engineering.

In today’s show we speak with Christopher Jewell, associate professor at the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland. He’s the principal author of the paper “Improving Vaccine and Immunotherapy Design Using Biomaterials,” which appeared in Trends in Immunology. It explores the hot field of biomaterials research and development, with a focus on how cross-disciplinary teams of engineers and clinicians need to work together in order to bring enhanced immunotherapies and vaccines into the clinic and eventually onto the market.

We start things off with a special segment from Alan Brown, senior editor for Mechanical Engineering magazine. Brown delivers a few insightful lessons to help engineers, students, business people, and just about anyone successfully communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
